It snowed today for the first time this season. I was sipping my decaf coffee and staring at all the snowflakes, and all I could think about was showing them to Mireya. I can’t wait until it snows next winter and I can hold her up to the window, point at the snow and say, “Look! Isn’t it pretty?” I can just picture her looking out at it all wide-eyed and grinning. Then when she gets older I can help her build snow forts and snowmen. I haven’t even met her and I can already see her running around the yard in her little pink snowsuit. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for the snow! I just wish I could show it to her this year!

Lane, do you remember building snow forts at the house in Sandy and trying to sleep in them? I would discover you missing from the house late on winter nights, and you would be outside planning to sleep in your snow fort, toasty warm. And do you remember hooking Max up to your sled so he could pull you around? Maybe Mireya needs a nice big dog to protect her and play with her in the snow! Remember how Max loved the snow? He never wanted to come in. You should stock up now on little mittens and snow hats. –Mom
Oh my gosh! I had forgotten about trying to sleep in my snow forts. I do remember trying to get Max to pull me in the sled though. He would always turn around, look at me and then climb into the sled next to me like a passenger. He never quite got with the program.
We are planning on getting a dog, we’re just waiting for the right time. Maybe when Mireya is settled and we’ve figured out a routine with her.
